8-10-21 Motor tests in a 2-8-8-2 steam engine

As part of the up grade activity on the Tenshodo GN 2-8-8-2 is the motor up grade. Because this is a similar activity to the 2021 motor test series, a separate thread was appropriate.
The plan:

(7-26-21) Finished the Igarashi 18233. The results will be added to the above charts.
the engine was 40 grams lighter. The current draws are lower. However the number of cars was disappointing low. The plan is to run the motors. Then pick the best one or two & rerun with the gear boxes relubed.
The next motor will be the Mabuchi FK 180SH. It will be interesting to see how it does.

(8-10-21) the Mabuchi FK180SH and the NWSL 18336-9 motors have been completed.

This engine will only accept a motor of under 20 mm in width. While there may be other motors that would be a candidate, for expediency, the NWSL 18336 has been chosen as the motor to carry forward in this engine.

The next step is to decide if the gear boxes can be retained. Upgrading the gear boxes will add between $100-$150 to the project. This change will be only done if required for the sound addition.
